Simple Keys are special items in the game Hollow Knight: Silksong that open Simple Doors, helping Hornet access new areas. These locked doors usually protect important spots, which may hide treasures or be part of your quests. Some doors also serve as shortcuts across tough locations, making it helpful to open as many as you can during your adventure.
Most of the Simple Keys are obtained in two ways: either by buying them from different vendors who ask for many Rosaries, or by finding them as objects in the game world. The map can make these keys hard to locate unless you have the right tools, like a Compass, which shows Hornet’s position and helps you navigate better.
There are four Simple Keys in total: two are bought from vendors, and two are found in hidden spots on your map. Any Simple Key can unlock any Simple Door, so you don’t need to worry about saving special keys for certain doors.
Some tips for finding items include using the Compass tool, which makes finding keys and navigation much easier. The table below shows where each Simple Key is located, how much it costs, and how to get it:
Key Number | Location | How to Get | Cost |
---|---|---|---|
1 | Bone Bottom | Buy from NPC Pebb for 500 Rosaries | 500 Rosaries |
2 | Songclave | Buy from NPC Jubilana after completing a quest | 650 Rosaries |
3 | Sands of Karak | Find it on a bench after defeating a tough enemy | N/A |
4 | Sinner’s Road | Grab it from a bench in a room with a dead body | N/A |
In addition to keys, you’ll encounter Simple Doors scattered across four different parts of the map. These doors don’t cost anything to open once you have the right key, but some require certain abilities like Hornet’s Double Jump or Dash to reach.
Here’s where each Simple Door is located and how to approach it:
Door Number | Location | How to Reach |
---|---|---|
1 | Wormways | Find the hallways leading into Bone Bottom; it’s the first door before the area changes. |
2 | High Halls | Go to the room with an exit down into the Choral Chambers, then jump onto upper platforms to find the door hanging from the ceiling. |
3 | Deep Docks | Locate the room beneath the long hallway, near the Far Fields, then leap or use float to reach the chained door. |
4 | Sinner’s Road | Move to the center, find a cell with a trapped bug, then climb past spikes using Hornet’s float ability and open the door to their cell. |
Opening these doors can unlock shortcuts, new rooms, or important quest areas, which help you progress and explore more easily. Even though there’s no special reward for opening every door, doing so makes navigating the game much less stressful, especially when heading back to tough bosses. After collecting all the Simple Keys, exploring becomes faster and more convenient, so it’s worth the effort.
