When it was revealed that Pokémon Legends: Z-A would be set entirely within Lumiose City, many players wondered about indoor areas they could explore. Lysandre Labs is one such indoor location that features a sizable map where you can battle and catch rare wild Pokémon.
If you’re working on collecting all the pseudo-legendary Pokémon to complete your Pokédex, you’ll need to visit Lysandre Labs to find some Pokémon exclusive to that area. Whether you’re hunting for a Beldum to assemble a strong late-game team or just filling your Pokédex, Lysandre Labs is an important spot for Pokémon catching.
### How Do You Get Into Lysandre Labs?
Lysandre Labs isn’t accessible from the start. You need to progress through the main story and reach Main Mission 35 to unlock entry. Once you’ve opened this area in the main storyline, you can come back anytime to catch Pokémon, search for items on the floor, or hunt for shiny Pokémon.
Head to the Magenta Sector 2 of Magenta Street, located in the northwestern part of Lumiose City. Inside the Lysandre Cafe, which is right there, you’ll find a door directly in front of you that leads downstairs into Lysandre Labs.
### Which Pokémon Can You Catch in Lysandre Labs?
Lysandre Labs is a maze-like area with over a dozen spawn points where you can encounter 11 different Pokémon species. Below is a list of the Pokémon and their typical spawn locations within the lab:
| Room # | Pokémon Spawns | Notes |
|———|—————-|——-|
| 1 | Usually two Beldum, sometimes a Metang | Beldum is common, but there’s a chance for the spawn to be a Metang instead |
| 2 | Beldum or Metang, both will chase you if not KO’d | Avoid letting them follow you around |
| 3 | Noivern | Hangs from the ceiling, keep an eye up |
| 4 | Houndoom | Patrolling the eastern yellow room, near two teleporters |
| 5 | Alpha Pokémon (guaranteed spawn) | Great for shiny hunting, especially for Alpha Arbok |
| 6 | Houndoom | Patrols this purple room which is separate from Room 4 |
| 7 | Noivern | An additional Noivern spawn if you KO the first one in a panic |
| 8 | Manectric | Hiding behind filing cabinets in the easternmost orange room |
| 9 | Houndour and Houndoom | Aggressive spawns that chase after you |
| 10 | Manectric | The third Manectric spawn, ideal if aiming for a shiny |
| 11 | Rare Pokémon spawns | Located in the northern purple room; perfect for shiny hunting through repeated teleportation |
Thanks to the teleport system inside Lysandre Labs, it’s an excellent place to hunt for rare and shiny Pokémon. To do this, teleport to spots near the Pokémon you want, then teleport back away to respawn and attempt to find a shiny. Repeating this process makes shiny hunting more efficient, and since the game can keep up to ten shiny Pokémon on your map at once without despawning them, you don’t need to check each spawn repeatedly.
