In Menace, gameplay flows smoothly. You select a planet, pick your missions, restock your supplies between tasks, and complete operations. This cycle repeats as your squad grows larger and more skilled with new Squad Leaders.
Your ship, called the TCRN Impetus, is the core of your operations. Upgrading and restoring it can give you many advantages. To do this, you need to understand OCI components.
What Are OCI Components?
OCI stands for Operational Capacity Improvements. These are upgrades you add to the Impetus to give it new abilities. These upgrades can be passive bonuses that help after missions, increase your rewards, or combat skills you can use in battle. There are many options, but only limited slots for each.
OCI upgrades fall into three categories: electronics, armaments, and hull. Each category has a limited number of slots—three electronic, three armament, and four hull. This means you can’t install every upgrade you want right away.
To install an OCI upgrade, you must also spend OCI components. These components are earned by completing operations—more difficult missions reward more components. Some upgrades require multiple operations before you have enough components to install them.
You can swap out OCI upgrades whenever you like, but replacing one costs the same as installing it initially, since components are neither refunded nor discounted.
Getting More OCI Upgrades
By default, you start with some OCI upgrades in each category, but the selection is limited and does not fill all slots. You can unlock new ones in two ways:
- Through random events, though there’s no guarantee when these will occur.
- By building trust with the game’s factions. As you complete missions for each faction, trust increases. Each trust level unlocks an offer for one OCI upgrade from three options. Reaching maximum trust with all factions allows you to acquire all available upgrades, but it takes time, so choose your preferred upgrades wisely, as you can’t change your selection later.
