Moving to an open-world style in Code Vein 2 means adding many new activities to make the large game world more fun and worth exploring.
One feature returning from the original game is hot springs. This time, they serve a more relaxed purpose. You’ll find hot springs scattered throughout the world so you can take breaks and enjoy the ruined scenery.
In the first game, a hot spring at your home base let you relax while reviewing memories and lore at your leisure. In Code Vein 2, they’re more casual—designed just for you to sit back and enjoy your surroundings for a while. However, you’ll need to find them as they are spread across the entire world. Using a hot spring for the first time also unlocks new crafting recipes that can’t be acquired in other ways.
These recipes mainly help you craft items that reduce or remove negative status effects. While these effects can also be bought as items instead of crafted, it’s still helpful to unlock these recipes, especially in tough battles.
There are six hot springs in total, all fairly easy to find. Most of them will also be revealed during a side quest involving Craig during the Free Exploration Era. Here’s where you can find each one:
MagMell Academy Hot Spring
Located inside the academy itself, on the left side. Look for a blue curtain over a door and go through to find the hot spring. Resting here unlocks the Stall Vaccine and Stone Vaccine.
Island Overlook Hot Springs
Found in the southwest part of the Sunken City, near broken train tracks and one of Jadwiga’s minions. It overlooks Insula Carcere. Resting here unlocks the Sunblight Vaccine and Stun Vaccine.
City Overlook Hot Springs
Located just south of the Plateau Overlooking City mistle in the Sunken City. It offers a great view of the flooded, ruined city. Resting here unlocks the Eclipse Vaccine and Snare Vaccine.
Sanatorium Baths
These are found in the Undead Forest after meeting Holly, who sends you on a healing mission. Many hot springs are available here, all granting the same rewards. Resting here unlocks the Slow Vaccine and Toxic Venom Vaccine.
Cave Hot Springs
This is a common spot many players might miss since it’s not marked on the map as a hot spring. It appears near the Gorge Cave in the Undead Forest in an area called “Cave Hot Spring” indicated by a mistle. You initially visit it with Holly but are moved away before they interact outside of a cutscene, so it doesn’t count as used until you physically step in. Doing so unlocks the Inhibit Vaccine and Fatal Leak Vaccine.
Valley Overlook Hot Springs
Located on the west side of the Corroded Scar, just north of the Tower of Regeneration and Miners’ Rest Stop. Resting here unlocks the Dissonance Vaccine and Acid Vaccine.
After visiting all six hot springs, you will unlock the Master Bather achievement or trophy, a fun milestone in the game.
