How to Unlock Mounts
When you arrive in the Wishing Mountains, you’ll meet Snow White. She’ll introduce you to her horse friends at the ranch and send you on a quest to find a weakened Wishblossom flower. Locate the withered flower in a cave, interact with it, and after some encouragement, a horse will appear. This event unlocks the ability to mount horses, but more are waiting to be discovered.
There are additional horses hidden in the mountains. To find them, you’ll need to solve puzzles and use Crystal Keys to gain access to new parts of the cave system. Below are the horses you can unlock and how to do it.
How to Unlock Maximus
To get Maximus, the prideful horse from Tangled, you must find the Crystal Key and give it to Tinker Bell. She’ll then unlock the Crystal Caverns, where you’ll find the Wishblossom of Hope. Inside, you’ll need to destroy the dark crystals in the pink, blue, and green corners of the region. After speaking with the restored Wishblossom of Hope, Maximus will appear and befriend you, becoming a mount you can ride.
Maximus has a special ability: he can jump over big gaps like broken bridges. When he jumps, Pixie Dust repairs the gap, allowing you to pass through easily.
How to Unlock Khan
Khan, the brave horse from Mulan, becomes available after you obtain the second Crystal Key from Cruella De Vil. With it, enter the second cavern to rescue the Wishblossom of Ambition. Use Maximus to solve puzzles and clear large gaps from level three onward. Once completed, Khan will appear as a mount.
Khan’s unique ability is to kick down wooden barriers, and at higher levels, he can break metal obstacles, making him a powerful helper.
How to Unlock Pegasus
Pegasus, the legendary winged horse, is only available for a limited time as a bonus for players who buy the Deluxe Edition of Wishblossom Ranch. After completing a special quest from Kristoff by retrieving the final Crystal Key from Tigger, you can explore the last Crystal Cavern. Using all your unlocked horses, solve puzzles, and talk to the giant flower about dreams and magic. Pegasus will then emerge from the petals as your final mount.
Pegasus has the ability to fly through the air by sprinting onto gusts of wind, allowing access to previously unreachable areas.
How to Unlock Sven
Sven, from Disney’s Frozen, is a temporary special character. Once you reach level 2 with him, you’ll unlock him as a mount. If you purchase the Deluxe Edition, you’ll receive a set of Arendelle-inspired riding gear plus a special quest from Kristoff. Completing this quest will instantly give you Sven, who can perform the same functions as other ranch horses and serve as a helpful ally in your adventure through the Decay.
How to Customize Your Horse Mount
You can customize your horses via the same menu used for changing outfits or furniture. Simply open the menu, click on the horse icon, and select the horse you want to customize. You can change features such as coat color, pattern, mane style, saddle, saddlebags, blanket, and headgear.
Note that certain characters like Sven or Maximus cannot be customized, but most other horses can. You can change your mount’s appearance anytime, even while riding. Find green chests around Wishblossom Ranch to unlock new customization options, which you can then apply to your horses.
How to Get More Horses
The stables at the ranch can hold more than one horse. To expand them, craft a special kit with materials gathered from different regions. Once built, you can add up to three new horses to your stable, swapping between them whenever you like. The progress of your ranch horses also shares across all your horses in the stables, making managing multiple steeds straightforward.
How to Bond With Your Mount
Developing a strong bond with your horses unlocks new abilities. You can feed, pet, brush, and ride your horses to increase their trust. As their bond level grows, they can learn skills like watering crops, digging holes, clearing night thorns, harvesting crops, or mining gems—all of which make gameplay easier.
When horses are well cared for, their special abilities become more powerful during horse sparks—timed boosts that activate your horses’ skills temporarily. To level up your horses quickly, ride them through fences or puzzles, feed them their favorite snacks, or complete tasks while mounted. Increasing their bond levels also involves giving them their favorite items daily, similar to villagers.
