Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is mainly a stealth game, but it also includes survival elements. Healing your character isn’t as simple as pressing a button—the same goes for managing your stamina.
To keep your stamina up, you’ll need a steady supply of food, unless you’re playing on the easiest difficulty. You’ll be responsible for gathering your own food, which comes in different types. Each kind restores stamina differently and can cause various reactions in Snake.
### How to Collect Food
There are two main ways to get food in the game: finding packaged, processed foods like Ramen and Rations lying around, or catching fresh food yourself, which could be animals or plants.
To catch animals or harvest plants, you usually need to shoot them. Shooting an animal with a lethal weapon will give you its meat. Using a non-lethal weapon allows you to trap the animal in a cage instead. You carry up to three cages at a time, which you can use to trap animals or toss animals at enemies. If you have dead animal meat, it will spoil over time, and eating spoiled meat can make Snake sick.
