In Cronos: The New Dawn, one of your main tasks is to recover key characters for reasons that aren’t fully explained. You also need to find and rescue Fallen Travelers—individuals like you who have been through various missions—and learn their fates under different circumstances.
Luckily, locating and rescuing these characters isn’t just for the story. Doing so grants passive skills and buffs to your Traveler that can help you during fights and exploration. Not every perk will be perfect or useful, but every bit counts. Let’s go over how to find each Fallen Traveler in Cronos: The New Dawn.
Where to Find Every Fallen Traveler
You can locate a total of five Fallen Travelers and four additional characters to rescue. These nine characters provide nine different Essences, which can be equipped to give you unique perks or buffs. They also play a part in the story, creating special interactions depending on which ones you carry at any time.
Note: The Fallen Traveler you see at the beginning of the game during a cutscene, ND-3500, doesn’t count for this list.
Edward Wisnieswki
During the first main section of the game in Sector 3-D, you’ll encounter Angela and Edward in a cutscene. The Traveler will automatically rescue Edward, but you’ll need to transfer his Essence before gaining his perk, which happens automatically as you progress through the main quest.
Edward’s Essence boosts your damage against enemies that are burning.
Lidia Marzec
On your way to Steelworks, you need to restore power to a tram at the Underground Station. After doing so and entering the tram, the Traveler will interact with Lidia, who is sitting on a seat. This is an unavoidable encounter.
Lidia’s Essence increases the amount of Energy you find by 10%.
Artur Baryka
Near the end of the brothers’ storyline in the Steelworks, you’ll reach a point where you have to choose which brother to rescue during a cutscene. Artur is the one holding a gun to his head in this scene. His Essence enhances your handgun’s headshot damage.
You can only rescue one brother; you don’t need to save both for the related achievement or trophy.
Gabriel Baryka
Choosing to save Gabriel during the same section gives you a different Essence. His ability boosts your shotgun damage when hitting multiple enemies. Gabriel’s choice is an alternative to Artur’s, and you must pick one.
Antoni Surma
In the Sculptor’s House on your way to Untiny Hospital, you’ll find a locked basement. To open it, obtain a key from the upper floor of the building—there are no enemies blocking your path. After grabbing the key, leave and go down to the basement. In the second room, you’ll encounter the Fallen Traveler, apparently caught by creatures.
His Essence increases the damage of melee attacks.
Doctor Zybert
After completing the section at Unity Hospital, you’ll automatically get Doctor Zybert’s Essence. It reduces the amount of Scrap Metals needed for crafting recipes.
Marcel Marzec
His location is more complicated. You’ll find Marcel in a toy store in Station B, near the Arlabest weapon. To access the store, pet the stray cat in that area to receive the key. The cat is in a room accessible through a crack in the wall from the bar, which you can reach after restoring the bar’s power by solving an electricity puzzle.
With the key, go to the toy store and find Marcel’s body near the first table. His Essence grants better movement while aiming.
Krzysztof Marzec
In the Abbey area, you’ll need to find items to insert into statues. The last item is a sword located in a building with anomalies, part of the main path. In the room opposite the one where you find the sword, you’ll discover Krzysztof Marzec next to the remains of Orphans. His Essence increases the damage of carbine weapons if you stay still while shooting.
Daniel Lazarski
Near the end of the game, you can find Daniel Lazarski’s body after turning on the lights and opening the cells in the police station. Exit your current room, enter the room to the right, and look on your left to find a fallen Traveler with a bloodied belly—this is Daniel. His Essence offers a chance to deal increased damage.
How to Transfer the Essence
The first three Fallen Travelers—Edward, Lidia, and one of the brothers—provide their Essences automatically as part of the story. You can review their effects in the Phylactery tab.
For any others, each time you find a new Essence after the initial three, you need to erase one of your previous Essences if you want to equip the new one. Erasing an Essence is permanent, so choose wisely based on your playstyle and needs.
The first three Essences are automatically given, but subsequent ones require deliberate management to customize your perks.
