Another month brings more chances to find Ditto in Pokémon GO, as long as you recognize which disguises the Normal-type Pokémon has taken. With the launch of Pokémon Pokopia and the 30th Anniversary of the series, Ditto’s disguises have grown significantly, especially during special events. Even though the celebrations for the new game and anniversary have ended, Ditto might stay hidden more than ever.
Starting in March 2026, Ditto’s disguises expanded beyond the usual 10 to 12 Pokémon it usually mimics. Around the same time, Pokémon Pokopia was released, featuring a Ditto disguised as a person as its main character. As new events happen this month, it’s unsure whether Ditto’s disguises will continue to grow, but the way to catch it stays the same.

Find the Right Masks to Spot this Elusive Pokémon
To catch a Ditto, first encounter the Pokémon it’s disguised as. For example, if Ditto is hiding as a Teddiursa, just finding a Teddiursa might lead to a surprise encounter with Ditto instead. When you catch one of these disguised Pokémon, you’ll see the message “Oh?” on your screen, revealing that you’ve caught a hidden Ditto.
Typically, Ditto uses about 11 Pokémon as disguises. But thanks to Pokémon Pokopia and the 30th Anniversary events, that list has grown to include 33 Pokémon, giving more options. Keep in mind that since some events in early March 2026 are over, some disguises might no longer be active.

Tips to Increase Your Chances of Finding Ditto
Using Special Items to Attract More Pokémon
While Ditto isn’t a powerful fighter, it can be useful in raids or gym battles. Depending on how many candies you have for Ditto, catching it might be a fun addition to your collection or a handy battle partner. To increase your chances of finding Ditto, use lures and incense, which make Pokémon appear more often in your area.
Incense can attract Pokémon, including Ditto disguises, while Lure Modules are great for pulling them in — but they don’t always work the way you expect. Pay attention to current events, as some Pokémon might only appear during themed encounters or specific challenges.
Pro Tip: If you have ongoing research tasks related to certain events, completing them can give you more opportunities to encounter Ditto disguised as other Pokémon. Having a stock of research tasks can make finding Ditto easier.
Shiny Ditto
Finding a shiny Ditto is twice as rare—the odds are about 1 in 64. Since Ditto’s disguises appear randomly, you need to be lucky twice: once to find Ditto, and again to find its shiny form. Overall, the chance of finding a shiny Ditto is roughly 1.5%. There’s not much you can do to improve that luck, besides searching repeatedly.
Team Up to Increase Catch Rates
If you want to boost your chances of finding Ditto, team up with friends. Using Incense and Lure Modules together makes Pokémon spawn more frequently, increasing your chances of spotting Ditto disguises. During special events and with shared efforts, catching rare variants becomes much easier.
