All Animal Trough Locations in Heartopia: Completing and Solving

In Heartopia, you’ll find all kinds of hidden treasures, from the friendships you build with neighbors to resources you gather across the island. Each thing is special, but nothing compares to the magic of making friends with the local wildlife.

To befriend the animals in Heartopia, you’ll need to find their favorite foods and locate their feeding troughs in the wild. Here’s everything you need to know to become friends with nature quickly. This guide explains how to start using the Animal Care features and how to strengthen your relationships with the animals.

How to Unlock Animal Care

As you advance the main story and increase your Developer’s Guild level, you’ll unlock the Animal Care section in your Town Guide. Through it, you’ll talk with Annie to learn about different animals on the island. Each animal is unique, staying in specific areas, and they each have their preferred foods.

Earlier in the quest, Annie will ask you to find the Sika Deer’s feeding trough in the forest. Fill it with food from your inventory, then wait for the animals to eat. Doing this will raise your bond level with that animal group. You can refill the trough whenever needed over time.

Tip: While you can track trough locations using the Animals app on your watch, it’s a good idea to put markers on your map to remember where each one is.

As your bond with each animal group grows, your chances of animals visiting, successful interactions, and animals leaving gifts at troughs will all improve.

Each animal group also has its own interactions—like petting, feeding, or playing hide-and-seek. You’ll unlock furniture themed for the animals as tokens of your friendship, so be sure to play with all the animals you encounter!
