A Complete Guide to Discovering Miki Castle

Miki Castle is conveniently located near some of the game’s early zones in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, but attempting it at a lower level can be quite challenging. While Yasuke may bulldoze through the enemies, Naoe might not have the ability to execute even partial assassinations on the daisho if you visit the castle too soon. However, with a little strategic maneuvering, you can stealthily navigate the castle, taking out guards in each section before tackling the daisho.

Inside Miki Castle, you will discover four samurai daisho, numerous treasures, and the usual legendary chest. One of the notable rewards is the Defense Master Headwrap, which can significantly ease longer encounters for Naoe. Thus, despite the initial struggles with the daisho, the effort will benefit future infiltrations of castles. That said, it’s advisable to wait until you’re around level 28 to take on Miki Castle, as this allows for cleaner drop assassinations on several daisho.

Finding Miki Castle

Locating Miki Castle in Harima

Even before you pinpoint Miki Castle on your map, you’ll notice its name in the northwest of Amagasaki within the Harima region. Once you head over, you’ll find Miki Castle precisely where its name appears, accompanied by a few other nearby fortifications. Early in Assassin’s Creed Shadows, you’ll likely come to the castle from the southern or western direction. I went in from the front, but approaching from the back can give you the elevation advantage.

When approaching Miki Castle from the west, you can stealthily clear the entrance and gather a few chests. Scaling a fence to the right will lead you to an encampment with the first samurai daisho. From the rooftop of the long building nearby, take out the alarm bell before eliminating the enemies. If you’re at the right level, you can execute a drop assassination and make a quick exit; otherwise, clear out the guards in the building (which also contains a mid-sized chest and a shed key) and the tower before engaging in combat.

Tips for navigating Mibuno Castle safely while securing the Legendary Chest and other rewards found inside.

Just south of the central courtyard, the second samurai daisho can be found, inspecting the heads of fallen enemies. While several soldiers are gathered in the area, you can take them out using stealth methods. If stealth assassination fails, consider luring the daisho toward some explosive barrels located east of the courtyard.

Look for another mid-sized chest in the courtyard where the heads are being inspected.

Continue north to the main courtyard, where the third daisho is located, right outside the building with the legendary chest. If you can, try to execute a drop assassination here; if not, proceed with the same tactic of clearing out the guards nearby and retreating when necessary.

Finally, you’ll find the fourth daisho in the large walled area at the northwest corner of Miki Castle. Be sure to disable the alarm bell in this area before making any moves, and head to the under-construction tenshu on the east side for a good vantage point. Once again, the daisho can be found near a building, giving you a chance for a drop assassination.

You can find Miki Castle’s Legendary Chest in the central courtyard — just head directly to the Miki Castle on your map if you’re uncertain. If you save this daisho for last, you can grab the chest immediately afterward. However, it’s also easy to backtrack and collect it regardless of the order you choose. Inside, you’ll find the following rewards:

The Defense Master Headwrap is beneficial for Naoe, and the engraving that slows time after a dodge can come in handy, especially with the numerous unblockable attacks in the game — a great legendary armor choice to simplify combat situations.

Miki Castle is a treasure-rich area, offering an abundance of chests scattered throughout along with a couple of storage sheds. If you’re leaving guards alive and only targeting the daisho, it may not be worthwhile to hit every chest; however, when taking a more measured approach, there’s no harm in exploring everything. For the most valuable chest loot, focus on the buildings where the daishos are stationed, and don’t miss the chest in the courtyard with the head inspection.
