Pokémon GO is in the midst of its Might and Mastery season, bringing forth another exciting event known as Bug Out 2025, along with the debut of two new Pokémon. This annual event celebrates the incredible world of Bug-type Pokémon and runs from Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at 10 AM local time until Sunday, March 30, 2025, at 8 PM local time. This year’s event follows the notable appearance of Caterpie during Max Mondays.
Although Bug-type Pokémon are frequently underestimated in competitive play, many can be quite effective in specific scenarios. While there is a paid component to the event, most activities are accessible for all players at no cost. This includes Pokémon debuts, enhanced spawn rates, unique raid battles, and various event-themed bonuses for participants.
New Pokémon Debuts During Bug Out 2025
Two Exciting New Additions
Amid the numerous recent events in Pokémon GO, few have included brand-new Pokémon, often featuring shiny variants or rare Pokémon returns. Thankfully, Bug Out 2025 introduces two brand-new Pokémon to the game. Making their debut are Sizzlipede and its evolved form Centiskorch, both originating from the Galar region. Sizzlipede, a fascinating blend of Bug and Fire types, should not be missed. This follows the Deep Depths event, which showcased Nickit and Thievel.
To evolve Sizzlipede into Centiskorch, you’ll need to collect 50 candies after capturing one.
While Sizzlipede won’t be found in the wild as a common spawn, there are various methods to add it to your Pokédex during the event. Throughout Bug Out 2025, trainers can participate in free time-limited research tasks, offering encounters with Sizzlipede upon completion. Additionally, there’s a paid research option that provides more chances to battle it. Beginning with the event, Sizzlipede will also be available in one-star raids, which can be tackled solo with relative ease.

Defeating the listed Pokémon in raids will give you a chance to catch them, potentially in their shiny forms, so be sure to take them on. For a better capture rate, use Golden Razz Berries and Ultra Balls. The table above highlights the best counters for all Pokémon featured in the Bug Out 2025 raids.
When it comes to one-star raids, most Pokémon can be taken down easily, but it’s still recommended to utilize strong counters for effective battles. For three-star raids, solo trainers can win, but it’s easier with a team that includes the best counters, although two or three trainers working together can also handle them. Scizor remains a popular choice and is less challenging compared to its Mega Scizor variant.
Wild Spawns During Bug Out 2025
Eleven Pokémon Will Spawn More Frequently
A major highlight of the Bug Out 2025 event in Pokémon GO is the enhanced spawn rates for various Pokémon. Most of these have Bug traits to align with the event theme. Ten Pokémon will show up more often during the event: Caterpie, Weedle, Wurmple, Nincada, Venipede, Dwebble, Joltik, Grubbin, Dewpider, and Nymble.
All Pokémon with increased spawn rates have a chance to appear in their shiny variants. One special bonus for the event enhances the likelihood of encountering shiny Wurmple and Venipede.
Additively, Cutiefly will be a rarer spawn, offering shiny possibilities during the event. While many of the boosted spawns are common, some, such as Nincada and Nymble, appear only during specific events.
Bug Out 2025 Event Rewards
Exciting Bonuses for Participants
Alongside the raid updates and increased wild spawns, participants will have access to numerous bonuses. Any successful nice throw or better while capturing Pokémon grants 2x XP, which accelerates leveling up. Trainers will also earn extra candy and candy XL for every successful throw.
To improve your chances of capturing the new Sizzlipede, using Lure Modules on PokeStops will draw more Sizzlipede than other Pokémon. Moreover, Lures can attract additional Pokémon based on the number caught after they’ve been activated.
There will be themed PokéStop showcases and collection challenges offering rewards such as stardust, XP, and extra Pokémon encounters. Lastly, new in-game items will be introduced for trainers looking to refresh their characters’ appearances. Overall, the Bug Out 2025 event in Pokémon GO promises a plethora of bonuses and is a must-play for anyone eager to catch the new Pokémon.
