At the Annual Financial Street Forum 2025, the chairperson of the Beijing Stock Exchange outlined the exchange’s primary priorities and strategic goals for the upcoming development phase.
Moving forward, the exchange will concentrate on several key areas, including enhancing market functions, fostering coordinated growth between investment and financing, and continually expanding its product offerings.
The exchange has now assembled a roster of high-quality, innovative small and medium-sized enterprises. Currently, there are 280 listed companies, with over 80% being SMEs, and nearly 90% classified as private companies.
To boost market capabilities, the exchange plans to review and refine its listing criteria, improve the flexibility of its review processes, and develop more sophisticated tools for mergers and acquisitions.
Additionally, efforts will be made to strengthen the regulatory oversight and developmental support of the National Equities Exchange and Quotations (NEEQ), deepen its reform, and introduce differentiated institutional arrangements. The bond market will also see product system enhancements, such as regular issuance of government bonds and an expanded role for credit bonds.
In terms of aligning investment and financing, the exchange intends to enforce strict listing standards, tighten regulatory supervision, and support listed companies through refinancing, mergers and acquisitions, and stock-based incentives to bolster their growth.
Eligible companies will be encouraged to reward investors with dividends and buybacks, accompanied by initiatives to develop more public fund products focused on small and medium-cap stocks.
The exchange will also push to strengthen its index system, accelerate the launch of the BSE 50 ETF, and explore after-hours fixed-price trading options to make investing and trading more convenient.
Further, global engagement will be intensified by increasing international cooperation and exchanges, steadily elevating the exchange’s foreign-market integration.
