The 8th China International Import Expo has officially opened in Shanghai. As the earliest British automotive brand to participate, and now a regular attendee for eight years, the company once again showcases its presence at this prestigious global event, emphasizing its long-term dedication to the Chinese market and its commitment to creating value for the future.
Tim Howard, Chief Financial Officer of Jaguar Land Rover China, commented, “This marks our eighth year at the expo. Being the first British automotive brand here allows us to connect with international companies, foster collaboration, and highlight our innovations and technological advancements.”
In the Automotive and Smart Mobility Zone (Hall 2.1), the brand highlights a compelling mix of heritage and cutting-edge innovation. Displayed are historic milestone models that exemplify British craftsmanship and the future of mobility, alongside the Range Rover SV Bespoke Experience Zone, where modern luxury is redefined through a rich blend of Sino-British cultural influences.
The new Defender OCTA, known as the “Master of Extreme Performance Both On- and Off-Road,” made its public debut at the expo. Equipped with the world’s first 6D Dynamics Suspension and OCTA driving modes, this vehicle sets a new standard for all-terrain performance, comfort, and handling. Continuing Defender’s legacy of engineering excellence, the OCTA will also serve as a prototype racing vehicle in the 2026 Dakar Rally.
Two historically significant Range Rover Royal vehicles made their first joint appearance at the event. The 1974 State I Royal Review Car launched the Range Rover’s half-century tradition as a ceremonial royal vehicle, accompanying generations of the royal family during national celebrations. The 1994 bespoke Range Rover, built specifically for Her Majesty the Queen, exemplifies timeless craftsmanship and refinement, symbolizing elegance across eras and serving as a cultural bridge between the UK and China.
This year also marks the 10th anniversary of Range Rover SV in China. To celebrate, the brand is showcasing not only the pinnacle of luxury—the Range Rover SV—but also an interactive SV Bespoke Experience Zone. Visitors can customize their own Range Rover from over 1.6 million options, including colors, materials, and finishes, immersing themselves in the art of modern luxury inspired by both British and Chinese creativity.
The legendary Jaguar E-Type, often called “the most beautiful car in the world,” is also featured in the International Automotive Culture Zone. Its sleek design and biomimetic styling have defined Jaguar’s aesthetic legacy for more than sixty years and illustrate the evolution of automobiles from functional machines to cultural icons, aligning with China’s initiative to nurture automotive cultural heritage.
Celebrating its 15th year in China, the company’s presence underscores China’s status as one of the world’s most dynamic luxury markets and a global innovation hub. Guided by the “In China, For China” philosophy, it has enhanced local R&D, tailored products, and unique services to meet Chinese customers’ expectations for modern luxury.
Within this framework, the distinct identities of vehicle families such as Range Rover, Defender, Discovery, and Jaguar have been further emphasized. In 2025, several new models—including the New Defender OCTA, Range Rover Sport SV, and Jaguar XFL 90th Anniversary Edition—were launched in China. The brands continue to strengthen their leadership through experiential initiatives like “Range Rover House” and “Destination Defender.” In the first three quarters of 2025, the brand led premium SUV sales in China for the RMB 700,000+ segment, and Range Rover has maintained its dominance in the RMB 1.5 million+ category for three consecutive years.
The company’s excellence has earned top industry accolades in 2025, notably achieving leading positions across six major J.D. Power studies, including Sales and Service Satisfaction, Initial Quality, and APEAL, marking their best performance to date.
Beyond business accomplishments, the company remains dedicated to sustainability and social responsibility. Since 2014, in partnership with a prominent Chinese foundation, it established a fund focused on youth development, investing over RMB 100 million and benefiting more than 700,000 young people through education, social services, and cultural exchange programs.
This year also marks the debut of the charity-driven Dream Store at CIIE—a creative market that involves owners, partners, and the public. Through charitable sales and collaborative initiatives, the Dream Store promotes community engagement and enhances Sino-British cultural exchanges on this international platform.
Looking ahead, the company has committed to participating in the 9th CIIE. As a supporter and active contributor to China’s ongoing opening-up and modernization efforts, it plans to continue leveraging its local insights and global capabilities to deepen collaborations centered around electrification, sustainability, and technological breakthroughs. Together with Chinese partners, it aims to craft immersive luxury experiences tailored specifically for Chinese consumers and support the sustainable development of the automotive industry.
