As part of the Back to Hogwarts celebration on Monday, additional cast members for the Harry Potter TV series were announced. Fans commemorate this day annually on September 1, marking the return to school for Hogwarts students.
New additions include Elijah Oshin as Dean Thomas, one of Harry Potter’s friends, along with Finn Stephens and William Nash as Vincent Crabbe and Gregory Goyle, respectively, Draco Malfoy’s henchmen.
The series is expected to take around a decade to complete, with the premiere scheduled for 2027.
Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in Hertfordshire will serve as the filming location for the series, the same site where all eight Harry Potter movies were produced.
HBO has reiterated that the show will be “a faithful adaptation of the iconic books,” allowing more time per episode to thoroughly explore the plots and details from the original story.
When filming commenced earlier this summer, the first look at 11-year-old lead actor Dominic McLaughlin in costume was released.
The cast also features Sirine Saba as Professor Pomona Sprout, Richard Durden as Professor Cuthbert Binns, and Brid Brennan as Madam Poppy Pomfrey. Several notable actors will also be part of the project, including John Lithgow portraying Dumbledore, Nick Frost as Hagrid, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, and Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape.
