Tyler Perry Faces $260 Million Lawsuit from "The Oval" Actor
Derek Dixon, a male actor known for his role in Tyler Perry’s television series "The Oval," has filed a lawsuit against Perry, alleging $260 million in damages for sexual abuse. The legal claim states that Perry subjected Dixon to escalating sexual harassment, assault, and professional retaliation, particularly when Dixon did not respond favorably to Perry’s advances.
Perry’s legal representative, Matthew Boyd, has dismissed the allegations as a "scam," asserting confidence that the claims will not hold up in court. "Tyler will not be deterred by these unfounded accusations," Boyd emphasized. There has been no immediate response from Dixon’s attorney regarding the statement.
The lawsuit, which was lodged in a Los Angeles court, recounts Dixon’s first encounter with Perry in 2019 while working at an event company that organized a party for the filmmaker. Following the exchange of contact information, Perry allegedly offered Dixon a promotion at work.
The legal documents detail a series of troubling events, including sexually suggestive texts from Perry and an invitation to Perry’s home in Douglasville, Georgia. During a visit in 2020, after sharing drinks, Dixon states that Perry entered his bed and engaged in inappropriate contact, despite Dixon’s objections.
The lawsuit also describes another incident in 2021 when Dixon stayed overnight at Perry’s residence. Allegedly, Perry requested a hug and then proceeded to undress Dixon and engage in sexual acts without consent.
Tyler Perry, a prominent figure in entertainment known for the "Madea" film series and his extensive media empire, opened a sprawling studio complex in Atlanta in 2019, which serves as a filming location for various notable productions, including "Black Panther" and "The Walking Dead."
As this case unfolds, more developments are anticipated as both parties prepare for potential court proceedings.
