Digital Phablet – In a recent brief interview, U.S. President Donald Trump addressed the controversial “Great Jeans” American Eagle ad campaign featuring Sydney Sweeney after a reporter inquired about the actress’s political affiliation.
The reporter, as shared by Rapid Response 47 on X (formerly Twitter), noted, “Actress Sydney Sweeney was revealed this weekend to be a registered Republican.”
Trump commented, “You’ll be surprised how many people are Republicans… I’m glad you shared that. If Sydney Sweeney is indeed a registered Republican, I think her advertisement is fantastic!”

The American Eagle campaign, which includes the slogan “Sydney Sweeney has great jeans,” sparked online debate, with many highlighting its unintended racist undertones and connections to eugenics theories.
A social media user expressed dissatisfaction, stating, “I dislike the Sydney Sweeney jeans ad; it makes me question why we are promoting eugenics when the country is struggling so badly. No, I do not want your genes.”
Another commented, “Maybe I’m overly woke, but featuring a blonde, blue-eyed white woman and building a campaign around the idea that she has perfect genes seems odd, especially considering current events in America.”
The campaign was also designed to support a domestic violence organization, incorporating a Crisis Text Line to raise awareness and funds. Nevertheless, many social media commenters found the ad tone-deaf, criticizing Sweeney’s revealing outfit. An X user remarked, “It’s hard to believe she had to oversexualize domestic violence…”
