Digital Phablet – In response to GameStop’s announcement about the conclusion of the “Console Wars,” the White House shared an AI-created post on X (formerly Twitter) featuring U.S. President Donald Trump depicted as Halo’s legendary character, Master Chief.

In the image, Trump appears to be donned in Titan armor, holding an Energy Sword, and giving a salute. The backdrop includes both the American flag and the White House. The caption, “Power to the Players,” received over 38 million views on X and nearly 150,000 likes.

This development follows Microsoft’s recent announcement on Friday that a remake of the original Halo will be released on both Xbox and PlayStation, marking the end of two decades of “console wars” and proprietary exclusivity. Halo, first launched in 2001, has never been available on Sony’s PlayStation platform.

Recently, Forza Horizon 5, a racing game initially exclusive to Xbox and PC, has become available on the PlayStation Store, decreasing the lineup of attractive exclusive titles for Xbox that could justify choosing its consoles over a PC, PS5, or Nintendo Switch.

GameStop issued a statement saying, “For over twenty years, the worldwide gaming community has been caught up in an ongoing, often petty rivalry known as The Console Wars. This conflict began in the early 2000s with Halo: Combat Evolved as an Xbox-only game. However, Halo: Campaign Evolved is now officially heading to PlayStation in 2026, with cross-platform gameplay.”

The retail giant also proclaimed its stance as a “Neutral Party” and “The Global Destination for Gaming and Trade-in,” signaling the “official end of the console wars” and ushering in a “new era of gaming.”

The announcement led to mixed reactions on social media, with some users congratulating Microsoft, while others declared it as the “death of Xbox.”

Some social media commenters pointed out inaccuracies in the AI-generated image, with one stating, “Not to be that guy, but the flag only has 40 stars,” referring to the US flag depicted in the image.

Another joked, “Time to stop letting interns manage the White House social accounts.”

Recently, Homeland Security (DHS) sparked controversy after posting a recruitment ad that used a Halo meme on its social channels. The post, captioned “Finishing this fight,” showed a Halo Titan soldier riding a vehicle with the message “Join the Flood, Join.ICE.GOV” written on it.

A user commented, “Did you get permission from @Halo to use their content for your propaganda?” and another added, “Pairing up with aliens to finish the fight! Whoever runs this account must be trying to sound younger or cooler.”
