According to TMZ, emergency responders arrived at the scene, which was outside a bar in the French Quarter, leading to the actor’s subsequent arrest.
Footage of the incident circulated widely on social media, showing Shia LaBeouf shirtless and seemingly provoking a confrontation with two men.
The Hollywood Reporter reports, citing bar employees, that the actor had been on a weekend-long bar crawl across various venues in the city. Photos captured him being treated for minor injuries inside an ambulance that was cordoned off.
Authorities from New Orleans issued a statement indicating that a man was “reportedly causing a disturbance and displaying increasing aggression at a Royal Street business.”

A tweet shared by NEXTA stated: “Actor Shia LaBeouf was taken into custody for a drunken outburst in New Orleans. It’s reported that on Sunday night, he arrived at a 24-hour bar intoxicated and shirtless, attempting to become a celebrity bartender. LaBeouf was detained and faced two counts of simple assault. However, recent reports suggest that he has since been released and has committed to attending upcoming court hearings.
The well-known American actor has a history marred by struggles with addiction and mental health issues, including allegations of PTSD stemming from childhood trauma that went untreated. TMZ reports that LaBeouf later entered court-ordered rehabilitation after his arrest in 2017 for public intoxication and disorderly conduct.
