Digital Phablet – Selena Gomez surprises everyone with an unexpected podcast moment.
There’s a lot that Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco have gone through together, including their marriage last year. But this week, they reached a new milestone in their relationship. On Blanco’s podcast, Friends Keep Secrets, Gomez was seen kissing her husband’s feet. This came after Blanco went barefoot in the show’s first episode last month, which drew social media criticism with the term “dirty.”
“Oh, don’t make this a big deal!” Gomez groaned to Blanco during the podcast after the foot kiss (sorry, Selena, but I’ll take responsibility for making this moment special), to which Blanco replied, “No, I wasn’t. I liked it. It made me feel good. I love you so much.”
During her appearance on her husband’s podcast, Gomez was seen kissing and cuddling his feet, which some found surprising.
Honestly, I just want Gomez and Blanco to be happy. If Gomez’s act of devotion—such as kissing her spouse’s feet—brings them satisfaction, then that’s what matters, right?
Recently, Emerald Fennell’s work has made me reflect on creative ways to express romantic love. It’s kind of cute that Gomez takes the time to show respect for a part of her partner’s body that many online commenters find gross. Even though my own feet aren’t always as clean as they could be (I wear my Rick Owens Birkenstocks nearly every day, which results in weird tan lines and makes me want to soak my toes regularly), I still want to feel appreciated.
For instance, should men wash their feet before stepping onto a clean couch? Most likely! And isn’t it adorable that Gomez seems to handle the situation with more grace than I probably would if Blanco hadn’t? Absolutely. As Liz Lemon from 30 Rock once said at her ex-boyfriend’s wedding, “Love is weird and sometimes gross.”
Recently, I watched a video that made me think about the different, sometimes unconventional ways people show love. It’s fascinating how expressions of affection can vary so much.
