Samer Al Barkawi opened up in an exclusive interview with ET Arabic, sharing insights into his sustained success as a Ramadan drama collaborator. He spoke about his relentless pursuit of fresh, impactful concepts each year and discussed the prospects of extending his partnership with Taim Hassan through Ramadan 2027. He also shared his thoughts on Fares Al-Helou’s return to Syrian drama.
When asked how he maintains an element of surprise in his projects year after year with Taim Hassan, Al Barkawi said, “It always begins with passion and thorough research. Thank God, the enthusiasm remains alive and eager to discover new narratives. Not just what I intend to present, but also what I feel I should try, different from before.”
He added, “This year, I plan to be a bit more daring, delving into worlds that may seem hypothetical but are rooted in current implications or reflections of our reality. I am committed to exploring new realms—sometimes unfamiliar—that ultimately echo what people are experiencing today.”

“It’s like when you reach out and touch the space of these Syrians, tired and burdened by war, and you immerse yourself in it, and Jaber emerges from it,” explains Al Barkawi. He emphasizes that Jaber’s character is deeply connected to the complex realities faced by Syrians.
He also discussed the significance of Fares Al-Helou’s return, saying, “Despite his absence, Fares has stayed vividly in my mind—both as a viewer and a director. I’ve always wanted to work with him. The current circumstances have made this possible; his return aligns with renewed interest in his talent. Above all, he is a perfect fit for the role.”
