Digital Phablet – Recently, Rockstar Games made headlines when circulating reports suggested that the renowned game developer might grant early access to GTA 6 for a terminally ill fan battling cancer.

This news emerged after Anthony Armstrong, a UI Integrator at Ubisoft, posted on LinkedIn asking his network if anyone had connections at Rockstar Games. Although the post was eventually taken down, many users shared screenshots across social media platforms.

In his post, Armstrong shared, “A family member has been fighting cancer for years and was recently given devastating news. Doctors estimate he has between 6 to 12 months left.”

He added, “I’m reaching out because he is a huge fan of GTA, and with the latest updates, there’s a real chance he might not live long enough to see the release of GTA VI.”

Potential Early Access for Terminally Ill Fan

According to a tweet from DiscussingFilm dated January 18, 2026, Rockstar Games reportedly provided early access to GTA 6 for this terminally ill supporter after his family shared his story publicly. The tweet included a picture shared by his family and stated, “Rockstar Games is giving early access to GTA 6 to a terminally ill fan after his story was shared on social media.”

Armstrong mentioned that his family member might not reach the anticipated November 19 launch date and acknowledged that signing an NDA could be necessary for early access, primarily to maintain confidentiality.

He concluded, “Final update: We spoke with them today and received wonderful news. That’s all I can share, but thank you all from the bottom of my heart.”

Speculation on social media suggests that Rockstar might have indeed granted the fan early access under strict confidentiality agreements.

Recently, Take-Two Interactive and Rockstar faced criticism after laying off over 30 employees from their UK and Canadian offices. The companies claimed these employees were planning to leak confidential information publicly.
