In a surprising development for the Ramadan 2026 drama season, Syrian actress Muna Wassef will perform the theme song for the upcoming series “Mawlana.”
Not only is she lending her voice to the soundtrack, but Wassef is also part of the main cast, alongside Taim Hassan, Nour Ali, and Fares Al-Helou. The series is written by Lubna Haddad and directed by Samer Al-Barkawi.
The director shared a poster of the series’ theme song on his official Instagram, commenting: “On your birthday, you gave us a gift before we could give you one… May our oak tree [Wassef’s nickname] have a long life.”
Wassef started her career at age 20 as a model, traveling outside her hometown of Damascus. She became a symbol of bold young women who challenged societal expectations and entered professions rarely pursued by women at the time.
