DIGITAL PHABLET – After five years in court, Ozan Güven has finally been sentenced.
The legal battle between Turkish actor Ozan Güven and his former partner Deniz Bulutsuz concluded after nearly five years of litigation. The court ultimately rendered its verdict: Güven will serve two years and three months in prison for “intentional injury with a weapon.”
The case, which first came to public attention in June 2020 when Bulutsuz accused Güven of assault, has been widely covered by the media. Following multiple hearings and appeals, the judge found there was sufficient evidence to convict the actor of assault. However, Güven was acquitted of charges including “insult” and “deprivation of liberty.”
The court also ruled that Güven would serve some of his sentence out of prison. Under applicable law, he will spend 45 days in an open correctional facility, excluding any probation period. Deniz Bulutsuz was found not guilty of the “simple assault” charges brought against her.
The case was reviewed again by the 20th Criminal Chamber of the Istanbul Regional Court of Justice after both parties appealed the initial decision. The appellate court carefully examined the specifics and upheld the original ruling, confirming that there were no procedural errors or issues with the evidence presented. The decision from the 58th Criminal Court of First Instance in Istanbul was deemed fair and consistent with legal standards.
With this final ruling, the case is officially closed, marking the end of one of Turkey’s most high-profile celebrity court battles.
Ozan Güven, renowned for his roles in popular TV series such as Fi and movies like G.O.R.A., has not publicly commented since the verdict. The case continues to stir conversations about domestic violence and accountability within the entertainment industry.
