ALBAWABA – Netflix has become the center of attention on social media following the release of a new trailer for its live-action rendition of One Piece, showcasing Tony Tony Chopper and the actress voicing him. The announcement has spurred a variety of reactions from the anime and manga communities.
While numerous fans applauded Netflix for its portrayal of Chopper, others expressed dissatisfaction with the CGI effects, labeling them as “uncanny” and drawing comparisons to Sonic’s entry into live-action films. One user on X (formerly Twitter) commented, “Honestly, I think that’s a fantastic live-action adaptation!”
Another remarked, “He looks great… I don’t see why there’s so much negativity.”
The debate around whether animated series should be adapted into live-action continues, with some critics arguing that it’s merely a quick cash grab by corporations like Netflix.
Despite the mixed feedback, the inaugural season of live-action One Piece garnered commendations from audiences for its solid casting, impressive visuals (with the exception of Arlong), and engaging pacing.
