Fans of Dispatch were recently left feeling both confused and disappointed upon discovering that the game was heavily censored on the Nintendo Switch 2, leading to a surge of refunds and social media complaints.
Launched in late 2025, AdHoc’s game was praised for its compelling storyline, well-developed characters, and high-quality voice acting by Aaron Paul from Breaking Bad, Laura Bailey, and Erin Yvette. It also gained significant popularity for featuring popular YouTubers Cr1TiKaL and Jacksepticeye as voice talent.
According to Dexerto, despite the positive reception of Dispatch, its port for the Nintendo Switch 2 caused frustration among players. Observers quickly pointed out that the game was heavily censored on Nintendo’s latest console, with no options to disable or adjust the censorship. This included bleeps for curse words, muted audio for certain sounds, and blurred visuals for nudity and body parts.
Nintendo faces criticism for censoring Dispatch on Switch 2
“Dispatch has been censored by default on the Nintendo Switch, which includes:
- Curse words replaced with bleeps
- Nude scenes obscured with black bars
- Muted sound effects in Invisigal’s dream
- No options to disable the censorship”
— Dexerto, January 28, 2026
A disgruntled fan shared their sentiments, saying, “This makes no sense—Nintendo has numerous Switch and Switch 2 games featuring nudity, swearing, and gore.” They compounded their point, adding, “Cyberpunk, Bayonetta, Mortal Kombat, GTA 1-3, The Walking Dead, and many Japanese ‘fan service’ titles on the eShop — what makes Dispatch any different?”
Another user on X (formerly Twitter) advised, “If you’re unhappy with the recent version of #Dispatch on the Switch, I recommend reaching out to Nintendo Support for a refund.”
Players who purchased the PC and PS5 versions of Dispatch were given the option to censor nudity, adult content, and copyrighted music, which is often advantageous for content creators and streamers.
While many blame Nintendo for the game’s censorship, a screenshot from Discord shared by an X user suggests that AdHoc may have decided independently to censor Dispatch on Nintendo platforms.
“Rumors suggest that @theAdHocStudio might be responsible for the censorship of THEIR OWN GAME on Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, not Nintendo America,” wrote Smash JT.
An apparent NOA support representative implied that AdHoc made the choice to implement the censorship, which raised suspicions among the community.
