Just a month before its debut, the upcoming third season of One Punch Man has released a new teaser trailer, showcasing fresh visuals and its opening theme performed by Jam Project, featuring Babymetal.
This trailer has stirred a wave of concern among fans due to its sparse animation, despite noticeable improvements in character design and overall art direction compared to the previous season. Fans expressed their opinions across social media platforms such as X (formerly Twitter), contrasting the original season, animated by the renowned Japanese studio Madhouse, with J.C. Staff’s current adaptation.
New One Punch Man Season 3 trailer sparks worries
A user on X commented, “Seeing these clips without any movement and still believing this production isn’t finished is mind-boggling.” Another fan exclaimed, “One PowerPoint man!! In 2025!?” In response, a supporter noted, “This brief trailer doesn’t reflect the animation quality; the compositions and sketches still look solid.”
Many viewers compared the preview to Studio Mappa’s latest adaptation of Jujutsu Kaisen’s Culling Games arc, highlighting differences in visual quality, animation, and overall production standards.
While it’s unfair to judge an entire series based on just a short clip, the minimal movement is concerning, especially given that the show is only a month away from release. Season 3 of One Punch Man is scheduled to premiere on October 4, with Jam Project returning to perform the theme song “Get No Satisfied!” featuring Babymetal.
Sources mention that fans can expect to see another trailer during the “One Punch Man Maji Music Festival” on September 14.
According to the official website, Shinpei Nagai will lead the new season’s direction, working alongside Chikashi Kubota, Shinjiro Kuroda, and Ryosuke Shirakawa for character design, with Makoto Miyazaki handling the music.
