Digital Phablet – Mel Schilling, the beloved dating coach from Married at First Sight, has passed away at 54, just two weeks after she disclosed that her cancer had metastasized to her brain, her husband announced.
She died on Tuesday, March 24, as stated in a message posted on her Instagram account.
The message read, “Melanie Jane Brisbane-Schilling passed peacefully today, surrounded by loved ones. In her final moments, when I believed cancer had deprived her of speech, she beckoned me closer and whispered a message for Maddie and me that will stay with me forever.”
Her husband added, “It took every ounce of her remaining strength, and that simple gesture perfectly captured who our little Melsie was.”

“This is a woman who, despite two years of chemotherapy, when she could barely lift her head from the pillow, never complained and consistently displayed courage, grace, compassion, and empathy. She never missed a day of filming,” the statement continued.

“To most of you, she was Mel Schilling—the matriarch of MAFS and a queen of reality TV. To Maddie and me, she was our tiny Melsie: an incredible mother, role model, and soulmate. On behalf of our family and her close friends, thank you all for the support from around the world.”

The statement further reflected, “Life can be beautiful, and life can also be incredibly cruel. But ultimately, life is fleeting and fragile, and no one is promised tomorrow. If there’s anything you can do to honor Mel’s memory, please live life to the fullest, love your loved ones deeply, and try not to worry about the little things. I was privileged to spend 15 wonderful years with my soulmate. Being by her side was the greatest gift of my life. For that, I am eternally grateful. Goodbye, my love. My one. Until we meet again.”
