Digital Phablet – Labrinth, the composer behind “Euphoria,” is distancing himself from the HBO series, which is set to premiere its highly anticipated third season on April 12.
In a mysterious Instagram post on Thursday night, the Emmy-winning and Grammy-nominated artist declared, “I’m finished with this industry. F Columbia. Double f ‘Euphoria.’ I’m out. Thanks, and good night x.”
His latest album, “Cosmic Opera Act 1,” was released in January under Columbia Records, his label. Since 2019, Hans Zimmer has been composing the music for Sam Levinson’s hit teen drama, a show that launched the careers of Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, and Jacob Elordi. Reports suggest Zimmer would also join as a composer for the upcoming season.
Labrinth shared a heartfelt message along with the post, expressing excitement about working with Hans Zimmer and adding some new magic to the upcoming season. Fans and colleagues alike expressed support for him online, with Kesha saying, “Take care of your peace, my love,” and others emphasizing the importance of his music, which has become integral to the show’s soundtrack.
Some of Labrinth’s most popular contributions to “Euphoria” include hits like “All for Us,” “Formula,” “Mount Everest,” and “Never Felt So Alone,” featuring Billie Eilish. These tracks have amassed millions of streams and received Grammy nominations.
While Variety reached out to Labrinth, HBO, and Columbia Records for further comments, none responded immediately.
Many fans and industry peers have shown their support, urging Labrinth to stay true to himself. As one supporter pointed out, his music has touched countless lives, and his absence from the industry would be deeply felt.
Labrinth also posted images and comments on social media expressing his sentiments about the show and his feelings toward the industry—highlighting both his creative contributions and the personal challenges he faces.
