Digital Phablet – In a recent segment on “Last Week Tonight,” host John Oliver criticized Israel’s recent actions in Gaza, shedding light on the persistent starvation experienced by Palestinians in the region, citing various human rights organizations.
Oliver highlighted that more than a third of Gaza’s population is going without food for several days, referencing reports from organizations such as the UN, Oxfam, WHO, and others. Even skeptics of these groups are told the same story by Israeli human rights organizations and newspapers like B’tselem and Haaretz.
John Oliver: Gaza is being starved by Israel
He didn’t hold back, stating, “Gaza is starving is an objectively true statement, but it’s also somewhat misleading because it’s too passive. Gaza is being starved by Israel.”
Oliver then criticized several Israeli politicians, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Itamar Ben-Gvir, and Defense Minister Bezalel Smotrich.
He firmly concluded, “Gaza is starving — that’s an accurate statement, but it’s somewhat passive. The reality is, Gaza is being starved by Israel.”
As of this report, ongoing Israeli military actions have resulted in at least 60,300 Palestinians killed and more than 147,600 injured, according to the Gaza health ministry. Among those affected are Palestinians desperately seeking aid, with over 175 Palestinians, including 93 children, dying from starvation as Israel and protestors continue to block aid deliveries.
