Digital Phablet – On January 29, Hoda Shaarawi was found murdered inside her home in Damascus, Syria. Her grandson discovered her lying in bed, covered in blood.

Hoda Shaarawi’s Ugandan domestic worker was detained and confessed to the crime but claimed that the actress had poisoned and starved her.
The Syrian Ministry of Justice shared details on Saturday regarding Shaarawi’s death, including a video reenacting the crime scene. They emphasized that the investigation continues until justice is fully served.
The worker, who had been employed by Hoda since October 2025, stated that on the night of the incident, she was feeling very ill and exhausted. She claimed that Hoda warned her not to touch anything or eat from the fridge because she had already been poisoned.
Additionally, she alleged that Hoda Shaarawi refused to give her money to send to her family in Uganda, insisting she stay for four more months so she could receive her salary.
Hoda Shaarawi, a renowned Syrian actress best known for her role as “Um Zaki” in the series “Bab Al Hara,” passed away at the age of 87.
