The police reports, court records, and interviews with family members and social workers indicate that Errol Musk, who is 79, engaged in sexual misconduct in both California and South Africa, his places of residence and Elon’s birthplace. When questioned about these allegations, Errol issued a statement on September 23 denying any wrongdoing, claiming that “the reports are completely false and exaggerated.”

Records show that the first incident reportedly occurred in 1993 when Jana Bezuidenhout, then a 4-year-old niece of the businessman, told her family she had been touched. A decade later, she told The New York Times that she saw Errol smelling her dirty laundry. It is also known that in 2018, Errol told Jana that they had fathered a child together, despite divorcing her mother, Heide Bezuidenhout, in 2004.
Errol Musk is married to Heide and has nine children and two stepchildren. He was previously married to Maye Haldeman and Sue Musk.
Family sources have claimed that Errol abused two of his children and a stepson. The Times reports that, in 2023, a 5-year-old son revealed to his family and a social worker that he had been touched inappropriately.
The New York Times states that there are records from police and court proceedings indicating three separate investigations into these allegations. It remains unclear what the outcome of the third investigation was, and no criminal charges have been filed against Errol Musk so far.
In a letter to The New York Times, Errol denied all claims, suggesting they were fabricated by family members seeking financial gain from Elon by pressuring children to make false accusations.
Errol Musk also informed the Times via email that he was only aware of one abuse claim, although he did mention the circumstances of two others in the same communication.

Elon, founder of Tesla, has yet to publicly comment on the allegations against his father. During a February appearance on the Wide Awake podcast, Errol criticized Elon’s parenting style. Nonetheless, he claimed he maintains a close relationship with his son, stating they are “very close.”
He also remarked that Elon “hasn’t been a good dad,” citing too many nannies and excessive wealth as issues. Errol then noted that after he married and fathered five sons with the same woman, each child had their own babysitter.
