Digital Phablet – Egyptian actress Fatima Koshari passed away on Sunday evening, March 29, 2026, at the age of 68, following a recent decline in her health due to illness.
The late actress was a well-known figure in the Egyptian entertainment scene, recognized for her supporting roles and her humble, genuine personality that defined her extensive career in film and television.
Her birth name was Fatima El-Sayed Awadallah, but she became famously known as “Fatima Koshari” because of her original job, selling koshari—an iconic Egyptian dish—from a cart she operated with her husband. This nickname stayed with her even after she entered the acting world.
She launched her artistic journey in the late 1980s as a silent extra, making her debut in the film “The Struggle of the Grandchildren” in 1989. She also appeared in the film “The Execution Squad” for a very modest fee at the time, along with early theatrical appearances, including in the Kuwaiti play “Crisis and Transgression.”
