Digital Phablet – Georgina Rodriguez and Cristiano Ronaldo went public with their engagement on Monday, after nearly a decade of dating.
Cristiano Ronaldo proposed to Georgina by presenting her with a massive diamond ring—one of the largest ever worn at a similar occasion. She announced her engagement on her official Instagram, sharing a photo of her ring along with the words, “Yes, I do… in this life and all my lives.” Although she had previously been spotted wearing an engagement ring, the couple had not officially confirmed their plans to wed until this week.
In an interview for the Netflix series “I Am Georgina,” Cristiano shared that he’s been waiting for the perfect moment to pop the question. “It could happen in a year, six months, or even a month,” he said. “I believe it will definitely happen.”
The pair has been together since early 2016. Their first public appearance was at the FIFA The Best Awards in Zurich that January. In May, they publicly shared their engagement on Instagram.
Their family includes five children: twins Eva Maria and Mateo (8 years old), daughter Alana (7), daughter Bella (3), and Cristiano Jr., who is 15 and from a previous relationship. Sadly, they experienced the heartbreaking loss of their son, Bella’s twin brother, shortly after birth in April 2022. Georgina described it as both “the best and worst moment of her life” during her show.
She recounted how she met Cristiano Ronaldo while working as a sales assistant at a Gucci store. She mentioned how Ronaldo would sometimes visit her in luxury cars, noting, “Sometimes he would come after work.” She recalls a time he arrived in a Bugatti. Georgina and her coworkers would drive the same model while he arrived in style, prompting disbelief among her colleagues.
Ronaldo described the encounter as amusing, saying, “It was funny.” He would wait for her in his fancy car outside the store, and afterward, they would go home together, enjoying private moments.
Georgina confided that her over 40 million followers on Instagram didn’t truly understand what she was going through after her loss. She shared that Cristiano advised her, “Life is tough, but it moves on,” encouraging her to recover and return to her normal life. She confident that she is strong enough to keep moving forward.
