Digital Phablet – Biket İlhan returns with Tatlı Maya, celebrating empathy and women’s strength.
As of November 2, the renowned Turkish director Biket İlhan begins filming her latest project, Tatlı Maya. İlhan is celebrated for creating films with social consciousness. Her newest film explores themes of female solidarity, empathy, and transformation—topics central to many of her works.
Leading roles are played by Ayça Bingöl and Cansu Tosun. The cast also includes Suna Yıldızoğlu, Emre Altuğ, Erdem Kaynarca, Gökberk Yıldırım, Erdem Ergüney, and Fatih Serdar Yılmaz, each delivering outstanding performances. Currently, a few surprise appearances are being kept under wraps.
Tatlı Maya tells the heartfelt tale of two women whose lives are profoundly changed as they care for and support each other. The narrative emphasizes how core human virtues—empathy and unity—can significantly impact lives and forge meaningful connections.
Produced by Sinevizyon Film and Karina Film with support from the Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism’s General Directorate of Cinema, the film also credits Yalçın Akyıldız and Görkem Yeltan among its creators.
A deeply emotional and meaningful screenplay was penned by Nihan Belgin and Nazlı Pınar Ünlü. Cinematographer Refik Çakar will ensure the visual storytelling aligns with the emotional tone of the film. The production design, crafted by Turkey’s renowned art director Natali Yeres, features a setting that combines realism with hopefulness.
Post-production will take place in Greece, further emphasizing the film’s international appeal and collaborative spirit. Director Biket İlhan, known for acclaimed works such as “The Man on the Street,” “The Boatman,” and “The Blue-Eyed Giant,” expressed her desire for Tatlı Maya to highlight the importance of kindness and human connection.
Already hailed as one of Turkey’s top films of 2025, Tatlı Maya promises to deliver a powerful message, supported by a stellar cast and thoughtful direction.
