In a social media post, Syrian actor Adnan Abu Shamat disclosed that Karam, the son of actress Anahid Fayyad and her former Jordanian minister husband, Muthanna Hamdan Gharaibeh, took his own life at age 14, citing bullying as the cause.
Amidst the lingering mystery surrounding the death of the star of the “Bab Al-Hara” series, a colleague shared startling new details on Facebook: “The handsome, academically talented, only child of beloved actress Anahid Fayyad, a teen, jumped from a suspension bridge in Amman and died by suicide, with bullying being the stated reason.”

He further commented: “It’s clear that bullying inflicts severe psychological harm, especially on those lacking self-awareness and confidence. It shakes their core, plunging them into deep mental crises, which can lead to isolation and withdrawal—sometimes with tragic consequences like Karam Gharaibeh.”
He added: “A bully is potentially a criminal. I believe if they had a weapon, they wouldn’t hesitate to use it against their targets if they couldn’t damage them psychologically. And I doubt they would feel remorse, even if their actions cost someone their life. Fundamentally, they lack morals, feelings, and empathy, targeting the vulnerable—those they see as unable to respond or defend themselves…”

According to reports in Jordanian media, Karam has passed away. The funeral is scheduled for after Asr prayer on Saturday at Hawara Cemetery in Irbid Governorate, northern Jordan. The family has yet to make an official statement. Further information indicates that bullying was a contributing factor, triggering widespread grief and social media tributes.
Many public figures, artists, and fans have offered their condolences, praying for mercy on the young boy and strength for his family during this painful period.
May God have mercy on Karam Gharaibeh and grant patience to his loved ones in their grief. May He also protect others who face daily harassment and bullying, especially women, in a climate where unacceptable levels of vulgarity, violations, and insults threaten their dignity and safety—highlighting an urgent need for protective laws and societal change.
It’s noteworthy that Abu Shamat portrayed “Abu Deeb” in “Bab Al-Hara,” while Fayyad played “Dalal.”
The obituary further states that Karam’s funeral will be held after Asr prayer at Hawara Cemetery in Irbid. The family has not issued an official statement yet, but social media continues to express collective mourning and solidarity.
Condolences continue to pour in from friends, fans, and public figures, emphasizing empathy and community support during this tragic time.
