Digital Phablet – Emirati singer Ahlam Alshamsi expressed her frustration with Al Jazeera over its lack of coverage regarding the recent Iranian attacks on Gulf nations.
A post shared by the Qatari news outlet about the Iranian Revolutionary Guard (IRGC) upset Ahlam, who accused Al Jazeera of predominantly focusing on Iran-related news while neglecting the Gulf countries.
In a recent Instagram post, Al Jazeera featured breaking news reporting, “Iranian Revolutionary Guard: Starting from April 1st at 8:00 p.m., we will begin targeting American technology companies for each assassination in Iran.”
On the post, Ahlam repeatedly commented, questioning, “Why aren’t there any images of Gulf leaders on your pages or in their statements? Why aren’t there any images related to attacks against us? I’m referring to the Gulf nations: UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman. Why is there nothing about the Gulf? All your coverage focuses on the Revolutionary Guard. I await your explanation.”
Since the regional conflict escalated, the singer has shared numerous Instagram posts showing her support for Gulf nations following the Iranian assaults. One caption reads, “Our fate is intertwined, and our enemies are the same… O God, unite us in goodness and love, and shield our Gulf, Jordan, Lebanon, and Iraq from all evil, O Lord.”
On February 28, Saturday morning, Israel and the United States launched a preemptive strike against Iran. In retaliation, Iran announced the initiation of Operation True Promise 4, aiming at Tel Aviv and U.S. military assets across the Middle East, including installations in Gulf countries.
The UAE Ministry of Defense stated on March 31 that since the onset of hostilities, 188 individuals have been wounded, with injuries varying from minor to critical.
