There’s been notable fluctuation and turbulence in the Google Search results again, with increased activity on November 12th. This pattern seems to continue from the ongoing Movember update I mentioned over the weekend. Over the past day, there’s been a lot of chatter within the SEO community, and some tracking tools have shown spikes in data during the last 24 hours.
Tracking this latest Google update has been challenging because Google Search Console’s performance reports haven’t fully refreshed since Monday, and GA4’s real-time data was malfunctioning earlier today. This has made it tough to get a complete picture of what’s happening.
Previously, we observed significant ranking shifts during several updates, including the one around November 8th (referred to here as the Movember update), as well as the Halloween update and fluctuations between October 15th and 17th. It’s worth noting that since Google disabled the ability to view 100 results per page, there’s been less buzz—yet, SEO professionals could notice ranking changes outside of the tools, especially around October 16th.
Most of the SEO discussion currently takes place in comment sections and on forums like WebmasterWorld, with many users reporting drops in traffic and ad revenue, or unusual activity in analytics data. For example, several have noted that they’ve seen very low or zero traffic from Google, with some observing no conversions despite high traffic volumes, indicative of some sort of ranking or indexing adjustment.
Various SEO tracking tools over the last few days have reported signs of volatility:
– Semrush’s sensor indicates increased fluctuation.
– Advanced Web Rankings shows notable standings shifts.
– Mozcast reports higher variability indexes.
– Wincher, Mangools, Accuranker, SimilarWeb, Data For SEO, SERPstat, Sistrix, CognitiveSEO, Algoroo, Zutrix, and Wiredboard’s aggregate tools have all registered spikes, reflecting ongoing instability in search rankings.
This collective evidence suggests a significant update is underway, causing unpredictable swings in rankings and user activity. The SEO community continues to monitor these developments through forums and tools, trying to decode the patterns emerging from this turbulence.
