Google is experimenting with displaying AI-generated summaries directly beneath search results. In this new layout, a small bar appears below each result, featuring the Gemini logo followed by a concise summary of the page’s content, generated by AI.
This development was observed by Landon Moore, who shared screenshots on social media. He noted that his team discovered this test, which presents a summarized overview of what each page contains underneath the traditional search snippet.
The screenshots reveal a different format where the AI-produced summary serves as an extension to the usual search result, providing users with a quick snapshot of the page’s main points. This concept resembles how Bing employs AI to generate caption snippets, but it goes further by delivering a comprehensive summary that enhances the original snippets.
Additional visuals show how this feature appears in real search results, sparking curiosity about its potential impact on the search experience. Some speculate whether this is an experimental feature that might become more widespread in the future, offering users more context before clicking through to a site.
