Google is experimenting with a new feature that allows users to add color to their search results page using a color palette selector. A palette icon appears at the top of the search results; clicking on it prompts the message “Add a splash of color to the top of Search” along with a “Pick color” option. Once selected, it displays ten different colors to choose from, enabling users to customize the accent color for the search header.
This feature was observed on mobile, with examples shared on social media showing the color picker in action. The visual shows the search interface with the selected color applied at the top. Additionally, similar testing has been spotted on the desktop version, where the top of the search results interface now includes an option to apply a color overlay for aesthetic enhancement.
Previously, Google tried customizing header graphics dynamically based on user queries, but this feature seems to be a more controllable and visually appealing alternative for personalization. Discussions around this update have been circulating in online forums and social media, indicating ongoing testing and user interest in such customization options.
