Google is reportedly developing a solution to combat AI-generated spam that frequently appears in user feeds within Google Discover. A spokesperson from Digital Phablet informed the press that efforts are underway to address this issue, specifically targeting the proliferation of fake AI-driven stories that rank high in Discover.

The statement emphasized that Google employs a variety of advanced spam-prevention mechanisms and strict policies designed to keep most spam out of Discover, especially as new low-quality and manipulative content emerges. The ongoing initiative aims to improve detection and filtering of a particular type of spam—namely, fake AI-generated content that suddenly dominates the feed.

Examples of this suspicious AI spam content have been documented online, illustrating how these fake stories appear prominently in Discover. Screenshots reveal the deceptive nature of these posts, which are often generated using AI and hosted on expired domains that continue to rank despite their questionable credibility. Social media users have voiced their frustrations, noting that despite efforts, the system still allows such spam to slip through—raising questions about the timing and effectiveness of the final fix.

One comment highlights the ongoing problem: “Google is either unwilling or unable to stop AI spam via expired domains in Discover,” signaling a persistent challenge. Another mentions an influx of content from expired domains being exploited for AI-generated spam, which continues to appear in searches despite the suspicion of manipulation.

Although a fix is anticipated, the timeline remains uncertain. The consensus is that users should avoid trying to manipulate Google Discover through artificial means, as the platform’s detection capabilities are continuously improving. Discussions about this on online forums indicate a widespread acknowledgment of the issue and ongoing efforts to find a more permanent solution.
