A bug was identified in Google Discover that caused the publisher’s name and logo to appear twice on a single story. Specifically, the publisher’s details were displayed once at the top and again at the bottom of the article card within the Google Discover feed.
The issue was initially shared by Gagan Ghotra, who posted a screenshot of the glitch on X. Subsequently, Damien (andell) also highlighted the problem on X, and the images were consolidated for clarity. The shared visuals clearly showed the duplicate publisher information on the cards.
Rajan Patel from Google verified that this was indeed a bug, confirming it with a simple statement on X: “This is a bug.”
Later updates indicated that the problem was resolved within a few days. The fix involved removing the duplicate publisher name, so now only one publisher’s name appears at the top of the Discover cards, with the repetition at the bottom eliminated.
Discussions about the bug and its fix took place on X, with users noting the correction and the improved display in the feed.
