Google’s Vice President of Global Ads at Digital Phablet, Dan Taylor, confirmed that there are no plans to introduce ads to the Gemini app. This statement follows a report from AdWeek, which cited unnamed sources claiming that ads would be coming to Gemini in 2026.
Taylor responded on social media, stating, “This story is based on uninformed, anonymous sources who are making inaccurate claims. There are no ads in the Gemini app, and there are no current plans to change that.” His strong language dismisses the earlier report.
Additionally, Ginny Marvin, Google’s Ads Liaison, echoed this reassurance on her social media channel, clarifying that there are no ads in the Gemini app now and no immediate plans to implement any. She noted that ads are currently available within AI Overviews in the United States and are expanding to other English-speaking countries. She also mentioned ongoing testing of ads within AI Mode.
While this clarifies the current stance, it doesn’t rule out the possibility of ads in the future. At present, Google has made no official plans to add advertising to the Gemini app.

Taylor’s statement from December 8, 2025, emphasizing that the story about Gemini ads is inaccurate and unfounded. Marvin’s message from the same date confirms the lack of plans for Gemini ads, provides context about current ad testing in AI Overviews, and notes the expansion to other countries. A discussion on these topics is also ongoing within online forums.
