Google Advertisers To Verify Identity Before Advertising on Google Ads

Google advertisers have to go through the identity verification process before they could start advertising on Google Ads.

This was announced by Google in a blog post posted on Thursday, 23rd April 2020. This process will help google eliminate all the Google Advertisers who were running misleading advertisements on its platform.

With the help of this process, users will be able to see who ran this ad as well as the country of the advertiser. This step came after users see a boost in the fake vaccines, sanitizers, and medical ads on Google.

People who are currently advertising on Google will have a tenure of 30 days to complete their verification process. If they’re unable to submit the required documents by the given date, Google will be suspended their accounts once and for all.

The blog post further elaborated that people can see the country of the person who is running any ad is by clicking “Why this ad?” button at the corner of the ads that are being shown to you.

Back in 2018, Google also asked for the identity proof to the advertisers running political campaigns on Google Ads platform.

Required Documents

These are the major things that you need to fullfil to get your identity proven by Google Ads.

Fill the complete W9 or IRS document.
Government-issued photo ID or Passport.
Address verification.

After successfully submitting all the required data, you will have to wait 3 to 5 business days until Google replies you back whether they have accepted your documents or rejected them.
