Google has recently been experimenting with new ways to enhance search results within its AI Mode. In July, testing was observed where follow-up questions appeared beneath AI responses, prompting users for additional queries. Now, evidence indicates that Google is trying out alternative search suggestions positioned at the bottom of some AI Mode outputs, not necessarily formatted as questions.
One example, shared by a user named Sachin Patel on X, showcases a screenshot of these new suggestions. The visual displays several quick follow-up prompts appearing as concise text bubbles, designed to closely resemble the appearance of the initial query. These shorter prompts are meant to offer users easy options for further exploration without disrupting the flow of information.
Additionally, a video demonstrates similar experimental features, showing query suggestions that resemble snippets seen in the search results pages of the past year. These suggestions seem to function as alternatives to traditional prompts, with arrows similar to “People Also Ask” sections, but with a cleaner, more integrated look. The prompts now appear in white bubbles that align more seamlessly with the overall query interface.
Screenshots from earlier tests also reveal that Google has been refining this feature over several months, gradually introducing these streamlined suggestions within AI Mode responses. The ongoing experiments aim to create a more intuitive and fluid user experience by providing relevant follow-up options that are visually consistent with the search query itself.
