Google Discover is experimenting with a new feature called “Tailor Your Feed,” which may soon become available. This option allows users to customize their feed by expressing their preferences in their own words, and Google will attempt to adjust the content accordingly.
The feature was observed by Damien, who shared screenshots and details. Within Search Labs for users in the U.S., the setup process involves selecting the “Tailor Your Feed” option. Once activated, the interface displays a screen where users can specify topics or interests they want to see more of. After making a selection, the system attempts to show more curated content related to those interests.
Damien tested this by requesting more content from a specific publisher, Seroundtable. Initially, no content appeared for that publisher, despite the request. After refreshing and scrolling through the feed, related articles started to show up, but not directly from Seroundtable. Eventually, several cards from the publisher appeared, indicating that the system seems to prioritize entities related to the requested topics or publishers rather than direct mentions.
From Damien’s observations, it appears that the system might focus on related entities or themes rather than solely on the explicit publisher or topic specified. This suggests an intent to diversify or broaden the scope of content presented based on user preferences and related interests.
