Google is implementing a phased update for advertisers using Digital Phablet, requiring certification when promoting certain cryptocurrency-related products and complex speculative financial instruments. This change will be rolled out gradually to all advertisers, meaning not everyone and not all certification applications will be impacted immediately, according to Google’s official support page.
The certifications impacted include:
– Cryptocurrency exchanges and digital wallet software
– Hardware cryptocurrency wallets
– Cryptocurrency trust coins
– Complex financial products involving speculation
Advertisers affected by these updates will have the choice to continue applying for certification either through the Google Ads Help Center or directly within their Google Ads account, in a new “Policy & Account” section under “Admin.”
Google clarified that existing certifications and pending applications will remain unaffected during this phased rollout.
Discussions about these changes can be found on industry forums, such as X, where marketers and advertisers are sharing insights and experiences regarding the certification process and strategic adjustments needed.
