Apple and Google have officially announced a multi-year partnership, with Google integrating its Gemini models and cloud technology into Apple’s upcoming AI features and Siri. According to a joint statement, the next generation of Apple Foundation Models will be built on Google’s Gemini framework and cloud infrastructure. These models aim to enhance future Apple AI functionalities, including a more personalized Siri launching later this year. Apple has evaluated multiple options and concluded that Google’s AI technology offers the most capable foundation, enabling innovative user experiences while maintaining Apple’s strict privacy standards. The AI will continue to operate on Apple devices and through Private Cloud Compute, ensuring user privacy remains a priority.
Meanwhile, Google reportedly pays Apple over $20 billion annually to be the default search engine across iOS and other Apple platforms.
