Google Ads appears to be shifting brand inclusions and exclusions into AI Max for all new search campaigns. The platform now prompts users with a note stating, “Turn on AI Max in your campaign to utilize brand inclusions and exclusions.”

This update was first identified by Jerome Fleck and was later featured by Search Engine Land. Here’s a screenshot shared by Jerome:

It seems that existing brand lists will still be manageable within current campaigns for the time being, but this may change for future campaigns. Anu Adegbola explained, “Advertisers can still retain or remove existing brand lists in legacy campaigns. However, to add new brand lists, users need to enable AI Max, indicating a deeper integration of brand controls into Google’s automation system.”
