A map, China’s top ride-hailing platform, is partnering with Xpeng Motors to launch its Level 4 autonomous taxi services through its mobile app.
“Our collaboration with Xpeng isn’t just a business development; it marks a significant step in our joint pursuit of artificial general intelligence,” said the CEO of the navigation app owned by a major Chinese tech conglomerate yesterday. He also mentioned plans to expand internationally, showcasing China’s leading robotaxi technology on the global stage.
Prior to teaming up with Xpeng, the company had already formed strong alliances with over 40 automakers, focusing on smart cockpit systems and advanced driver-assistance features. The app connects hundreds of mobility providers across various regions and has more than 800 million active users each month. Innovative robotaxi companies like WeRide and Pony.ai are already integrated into this platform.
In the autonomous vehicle sector, the platform benefits from a deep understanding of urban traffic patterns, enabling real-time analysis of traffic flow and demand forecasting to optimize ride coordination. It also mitigates blind spots of individual vehicle intelligence through multi-vehicle data fusion and offers extensive testing environments for autonomous driving systems.
The company is also rapidly expanding its global ecosystem. The app now operates in over 200 countries and regions, with ride-hailing services available in more than 50. This international reach is expected to help China’s autonomous vehicle technology gain a foothold in overseas markets.
