Xiaomi is planning to invest over CNY 60 billion (approximately USD 8.7 billion) in artificial intelligence over the next three years, according to the company’s CEO.
The company’s first AI-powered smartphone assistant, the Xiaomi MiClaw, is already in closed beta testing. The CEO shared this update at a recent press conference, highlighting that the tool features the MiMo large models and is deeply integrated with the company’s operating system and its “Smart Ecosystem” encompassing human, vehicle, and home interfaces.
Three MiMo large models have been introduced: the flagship base model MiMo-V2-Pro, the comprehensive Agent version MiMo-V2-Omni, and the text-to-audio model MiMo-V2-TTS. The MiMo-V2-Pro is an enormous model with a trillion parameters, capable of supporting a million-level context window. Its early test version, called Hunter Alpha, has already garnered significant attention on the OpenRouter API platform.
Earlier this month, the CEO indicated that the company expects to make significant breakthroughs in technological innovation this year. He also expressed confidence that Xiaomi is on track to unify its self-developed chips, operating system, and AI models into a single device within the year.
The company plans to boost investments in core technological research, with a target of CNY 200 billion (about USD 30 billion) over the next five years. This funding will focus on chip development, AI, operating systems, and related fields, ensuring long-term competitiveness in premium, intelligent, and eco-friendly technologies.
Additionally, Xiaomi announced its second-generation SU7 electric vehicle yesterday, with prices starting at CNY 219,900 (roughly USD 31,870) for the standard version, CNY 249,900 for the Pro, and CNY 303,900 for the Max. All models are approximately CNY 4,000 (USD 580) less expensive than the previous generation.
The company has sold 381,000 units of the first-generation SU7, with over 258,000 units sold last year alone, making it the only sedan priced above CNY 200,000 to surpass Tesla’s Model 3 in sales, according to the company CEO.
